Dude, I hate to tell you this...but you'll just get frustrated thinking a movie (or TV show) will be real when it comes to war (or police work).
It's hollywoodcrap. It has to make money...and it's done by some poge who's never been in a real war...
I like to count the errors in uniforms, weapons, rank and silly things like that...in most war movies.
Now, go watch Hogan's Heros, or Combat DVDs for a real laugh.
Hollywood doesn't care if they get it right (there are a few good ones)
My Daddy was D+13 in WWII. He said that the opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan was the most realistic war movie he ever saw. Some movies get it right. Doesn't sound like 50 Cent and Home of the Brave got it right.

I know war movies will never be 100% realistic, but going that extra mile really pays off. Black Hawk Down is pretty close to the actual thing (listen to the soldier's commentary on the collector's edition for what they get right and wrong). Not only do they get the facts right, but the lingo, uniforms, equipment - it's all there.
Hollywood will always take liberties with war stories to make it a sellable story. Doesn't mean they shouldn't get as close as possible.
No review of Lions for Lambs?
50 Cent should have been the technical advisor for the "getting shot" part.

Some directors, writers, producers etc will make the extra effort to get it correct. Maybe we should start an "Army, Marine Dudes" approved list of movies.
I got to "escort" the dude who wrote Band of Brothers etc. He was a good person...so sad he died.
Tom Hanks is one who'll try to get stuff correct. B.H. Down was good... But, if you watched 99% of the movies made about war, most have stereo types, stupid lines, incorrect equipment...and they never show the machine gunners picking up the damn brass and links to clear out a veh or fighting position.
Sometimes I just watch to laugh and see them blow the --it out of the bad guys.
The absolute worst modern TV show about war was "Over There" It came out when I was over there, and we called it "Over crap"
